How to Make Perfect Persian Rice

By Tabby Refael

Place one cup of long-grain Basmati rice in a sieve, drain until water runs clear, and then call your Persian mother-in-law and ask her to come right over and prepare it for you. It’s not as if she stopped feeding her son (your husband) on a regular basis once you two got married, anyways. While she's at your house, ask her to fold your husband's underwear because the doodool tala doesn't know how to do it himself (thank goodness, I'm not referring to my own husband. He folds his own drawers with discipline and precision).

*Doodool tala means "little golden pee pee" in Persian and relates to a golden, precious boy whose family waits on him hand and foot and skillet. It describes every Persian boy and man ever to have been born. Ever. For a great assessment of Doodool Tala Syndrome, visit my previous blog post.
