In May 2019, almost 30 years after arriving in America, Tabby was honored by the City of Los Angeles for her service and leadership on behalf of the Iranian-American Jewish community. The recognition came as part of the city’s Jewish American Heritage Month and a unique exhibit titled, “Being Deborah,” which highlighted the wonderful service of Jewish woman in Los Angeles dating back to the nineteenth-century.

Standing at City Hall in front a current image of herself that was juxtaposed with an image of her and her mother dressed in the mandatory hijab enforced in post-revolutionary Iran, Tabby expressed that it was one of the most meaningful days of her life.
